Sunday ride with Desa Alam Team

i have been introduce by bro munir to desa alam team.this team always ride on sunday to Altantuya bombing area near kg. budiman.total distance arround 40km and 60% is off road. usually their are many of them but today only 9 rider joint because most of them going back to hometown (chinese new year holiday). as in a plan,we should ride at 715 am to make sure we are not burn under sun.however a few rider come at 740 am, so start to ride at 800am.lead by bro kahlid wife (ladies first, to make sure they are not away at behind), we goes straight througt palm estate to setia alam-kg budiman-and pit stop warung donut.this take arround 1 1/2 hour because we had beginner rider.after breakfast at warung donut,we ride back to shah alam.time at my watch show 1015 am and the sun is up on my head.luckly i bought oakley sunglasses and wear a long sleve jersey, i can overcome the heat of burning sun..hahaha..with my full energy, maintain my speed arround 24km/h on the offroad and road,i manage to finish the ride at 11am and left other rider..hehehe...i affraid to be burn under sun,that why i left them..arround 1140am,most of the rider arrive at bro khalid house..starting point.

Kayuhan Anggerik, same as Putrajaya Critical Mass was held at dataran shah alam, near Plaza Alam Sentral. This programe had organize by Padle Power Cycling Club in cooperation with MBSA. it was also being sponsored by MAZDA motor malaysia. for 100 first participant who are registered on that night had received t-shirt from MAZDA. this programe will be one of the main program for every friday night. the route distance for this "kayuhan" is about 12km and it just for fun riding. it's cover most of the road arround shah alam city...seksyen 2,6,9,3,4,5,10 and 11. this event will be finish arround 10 p.m and start at 8.30 p.m.

We just finished explaining why Kona refuses to incorporate complicated multi-link suspension designs in our line of bicycles, and now, here we are, releasing a new platform called Magic Link.

Every bike and suspension company struggles to find the balance between plush, active suspension and pedaling efficiency. Kona is no different. We’re constantly striving to provide the best combination of function and durability across our entire range of bikes. Magic Link is our response to this ongoing quest as it applies to a specific, fast-emerging genre of bicycles, Enduro/Freeride. Bikes that need to go up as good as they go down.

However, look a little closer and you’ll see that the Magic Link isn’t a huge departure from our 4-Bar system. In fact, it uses all of the same design elements of 4-Bar, with one major tweak. The Magic Link is, in its’ simplest terms, a “fifth bar”—an additional moving part that enables a wider range of performance virtues on our Enduro/Freeride line of dual suspension bicycles.

For this mid-to-long travel range of bikes—our Coilair series—we felt the 4-Bar wasn’t giving us all that we needed. HOW IT'S WORK?
A. Imagine a mid-to-long travel bike that’s designed to excel when it’s climbing or pedaling really hard: 6 inches of relatively stiff, linear rear travel with steeper head and seat angles and raised seat height.

B. Now imagine that same bike when it’s going downwards, braking or hitting big bumps. Not ideal, right? Well imagine that same bike has the ability to change its rear travel to be
more progressive, with softer suspension in the initial stages of travel. Not only that, imagine the travel on this bike could grow from 6-inches to 7.4-inches, while its geometry changed
to slacker head and seat angles, with an improved wheel path.

Sounds too good to be true? We’re not done yet. Now imagine this change could happen automatically, with no need for the rider to adjust anything, unaware that these changes are happening constantly and seamlessly. Sounds like magic, right?

C. It’s not. By incorporating what can best be described as a “fifth” arm in our 4-Bar platform—a spring that connects the bottom shock mount to the seat tube enabling the bottom rear shock mount to move—we’re able to achieve all of the aforementioned riding characteristics. The ability to climb like a short travel XC bike and descend like a downhill bike all in one, no switches or tools necessary. No sacrificing one for the other.

These aren't two separate modes, either. The Magic Link is constantly reacting to all of the forces acting on it, and it's not like an on/off switch. It's never "stuck" in one mode. It just does what you need. Sometimes it's in between modes, or cycling between modes, but there’s no sudden feeling of change, such as a sudden alteration of the bike’s geometry. The rider is unaware of what's going on, just having fun, riding like a bat out of hell, up and down.

Walking distances: The Mountain Bike Course has a total of four security check points: east of the Velodrome, on LAOSHAN Road, LAOSHAN South Road, and SHANGSZHUANG Street.

Spectator Tip

1. The Mountain Bike Course is in hilly, forested countryside, so smoking and lighting any kind of fire are strictly forbidden.

2. The points are some distance from the Mountain Bike Course itself, and the path is uneven and rugged. We recommend spectators come early and wear comfortable shoes.

Bronze went to Switzerland's Nino Schurter in 1:57:52.

So the ministry organised a ride which been participated by IPTA students. The route was Putrajaya to UPM- about 15km. The thing that is great is the free Ts, flags and not to forget the food, breakfast and lunch! Shimano Saint 2009
Shimano's Saint groupset was the component giant's first foray into parts specifically designed for "extreme" riding. The result was a great performer and undoubtedly very robust, but it came with something of a weight penalty. The heft of the original Saint parts meant that large parts of the target market (especially downhill racers) stuck with Shimano's lighter groups and took the chance that they'd hold together. With that in mind, the all-new 2009 Saint group (available from August 2008) sees a considerable weight reduction while still promising enhanced performance and durability. Honda RN01G Dream Downhill MTB

Honda is about to release the 'perfect' downhill mountain bike. Apparently Honda has tested four years until they finalized the RN01G design.

The Honda RN01G core feature is an internal transmission. Combined with the motocross style frame the RN01G is basically indestructible.

There are no technical details available at this point.
Honda is introducing the RN01G at the Interbike trade-show in Las Vegas. The show will take place starting September 24th with an outdoor gathering.

For car makers to venture into mountain bike production is nothing new. Jeep introduced years ago an all-wheel drive MTB. BMW is also making mountain bikes with unique frame designs.

KONA BIKE

Apparently 2006 will be Kona's 18th year, which is a reasonably terrifying thought in some ways. Long-time Kona watches probably won't be surprised to learn that there're no radical departures in next year's range - Kona's always been more into evolving and refining rather than chucking everything out and starting again.

We had a look at the new range in Les Gets - it's worth bearing in mind that the launch bikes all featured North American spec, which won't necessarily be exactly the same as the UK/European bikes. We dare say that full specs and prices will be on Kona's UK site any time now.

A good example of Kona's evolutionary approach is the new Stinky range. The Stinky Five came out in 1998 with 5in of travel and (for the time) big forks. Over the years it's been pumped up with ever-more travel, and for 2006 it's had a big makeover. The Stinky now has 7in of travel at the back, but it's more like a shorter-travel Stab than a longer-travel version of last year's bike. The new rocker arm is much longer, meaning lower forces and and a reduced the leverage ratio, and it's set up to deliver a more linear rate through the travel. You also get a revised, stiffer replaceable derailleur hanger, funky curved down tube and increased standover height. It'll be available in no-frills, Deluxe and Primo flavours, all with fairly meaty spec - Fox DHX shocks, Marzocchi twin-crown forks, big Maxxis tyres and Hayes brakes.

If that's not enough travel for you, the Stab Supreme and Stab Deluxe offer 8in of travel plus a floating rear brake. Spec is largely as you might expect. There's also a new 4X bike, the Howler. It's a short-travel suspension bike designed with the help of Fabien Barel.

Moving back down the travel range and into the realms of bikes that you can feasibly ride up hills, we have the Coiler range. The Coiler's USP was that it had coil springs at both of its 6in-travel ends, but for 2006 there's also a CoilAir using air springs. Fox's new DHX Air shock holds the back up and a Fox 36 RC2 sits at the front. Components include Race Face Atlas and Evolve bits and Hayes El Camino brakes.

Kona's beefy hardtails have had a few tweaks. The Cowan dirt-jump bike is now compatible with deep-insertion headsets and the singlespeedable back end has interchangeable dropouts, letting you run a 12mm rear through-axle if you need a bit more beef at the back. There's also a Stuff 2-4 24in wheel bike for little 'uns.

In the XC FS arena, the 3.8in travel Kikapu bikes are joined at the top end by the 2.5in travel, Scandium framed, rim brake only King Supreme. There's also a frame-only disc-brake option, the Leroi, featuring carbon stays. If that's not racecore enough for you, the 2006 Kula Supreme hardtail drips with superlight kit - FSA MegaExo carbon fibre cranks, XTR transmission, Mavic CrossMax SL wheels, Easton carbon stuff and so on.

The more "everyday" hardtails - the Blast, Cinder Cone and Caldera - feature a new frame using flared'n'squared Kona Clump Light tubing. It's a considerably more aggressive look, but despite appearances the tubing is fairly light - it's a lot thinner than the tubes on the dirt jump bikes that it resembles. For the traditionalists, the Lava Dome and Explosif are both steel - Kona Butted Cromoly on the Dome, Dedacciai tubing on the Explosif.

Kona's also entering the women's market with three bikes using the Lisa name. The HT is a hardtail, the DS is a full susser and the RD is a road bike. They all feature tweaked geometry and girl-friendly contact points.

Then of course there's all the slightly out-of-the-mainstream stuff. The Jake and Jake The Snake cyclo-cross bikes are joined by a junior CXer, the Jake 2-4. The new Ph.D is a kind of super-hybrid/flat-bar road bike with lots of lightweight bits. The Makena is a 20in wheeled kid's bike and the Joe is an extravagantly behandlebarred chopper-type device that's designed to be slightly more practical than last year's Bikehotrod. For cruiser fans there's still the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a, although in the UK we get one cluttered up with levers and cables and things, rather than the super-clean North American one with just a coaster brake. Bah.

Oh, and the Unit singlespeed is joined by a 29er version. If you're desperately leftfield enough to want a 29er singlespeed you'll have to put some effort in, though - the Unit 2-9 comes as a frame only.
